The Production Table with The South Kansas City Performing Arts Academy

The Production Table

The Arts Asylum has been working in education since its inception in 2010 beginning with the Kids with Crayons program for underserved youth, through today with The Production Table, programming with The South Kansas City Performing Arts Academy. Recently The Arts Asylum was awarded the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, Real World Learning Employer Business Champion of the Year 2023.

The South Kansas City Performing Arts Academy-SKCPAA (a partnership between the Hickman Mills, Grandview and Center School Districts) hired The Arts Asylum for the 2023/24 school year for their program “The Production Table”. The Production Table is designed to complement a schools theatre program, by relying on the technical side of theatre vs the performance side. We bring in local theatre professionals to educate students on the full spectrum of producing and encompass all aspects of the theatre creation process from the first production meeting to the lights, sound, dramaturgy and marketing. Our goal each year is to provide a better understanding of all facets of the theatrical process, create opportunities for our youth to involve themselves in our community, and to encourage vital learning through the arts.
